May 2009 - The Donovan Gallery at Historic Tiverton Four Corners is proud to welcome a new artist to its roster, Ingrid Lavoie. A graduate of RISD, Ingrid is a Schereschnitte artist. Schereschnitte is a German art form whereby an image is cut from a folded piece of paper and a symmetrical image is revealed once the paper is unfolded. The resulting work is rich in detail yet extremely delicate. Many of her works are some what whimsal depicting fairy tales and nursery ryhmes, which follow the legacy of Hans Christian Anderson, who was an early practioneer of this intricate art form. Ms Lavoie's Sailor's Valentine's can be personalized for engagements, weddings, anniversary's and birth announcements.
The Donovan Gallery is open Tuesday thru Saturday 10-5 and on Sundays 12-4.
